Currently: building a challenging puzzle game called Lightyard · writing a sequel to my recent novella · prototyping an educational reading app.
I build things from 0-1: discovery and ideation, prototyping, iteration, testing with customers, release and marketing.
Most recently I shipped Arch Investment Research. It uses AI to analyze documents, extract facts, and flag caution points worth a closer look. Agents power its chat and its deep research across the web, and it generates reports, one-pagers, and decision memos. I helped decide to build it, did the client research, built the prototype, ran the customer pilots, turned the feedback into priorities, and worked with marketing and sales on pricing and promotion.
I partner with developers — I’d rather brainstorm and discuss than dictate.
AI is key to what I do at every stage: AI powers the tools I build, and AI is a key component of how I build them.
Took Arch Investment Research (AIR) from zero to launch: AI that reads complex investment documents, extracts the facts, and automates the busywork around them. Also launched the product API and grew it to broad adoption.
Launched a BERT model: lifted entity-recognition F1 by 34 points.
Built and tested a trip insurance prototype. Launched the company's first personalization tool. Led experimentation and increased PM confidence.
Led the excellent team responsible for Answers.com. Launched dozens of small-community themed web sites. Launched an expert-contributor platform. Launched an expert-help system.
Introduced project management, built a cost-of-goods-sold model that showed some partners were a drag on the company, and led the Yahoo! and AOL API implementations. Began the move into product with a page redesign that tripled click rate in testing.
Built dozens of systems, including a residuals and participation tracker.
I write science fiction, I solve puzzles, I read, I row on a Concept 2 erg, and I bike all over the place.
